RMSC After Dark: The Science of Sex

RMSC After Dark is a series of after-hours social events for adults 21 and over featuring full Museum & Science Center access, cash bars, and food.

INVESTIGATE THE CALL OF THE WILD
We’re spicing up 2024 with a tantalizing twist on our After Dark programs as we explore The Science of Sex! Take a peek at plumage, dissect flowers, and speak with local experts and organizations to further your sexplorations into the world of science.
EVENT HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:
- Make your own Valentine’s Day Cards with help from the Center for Biological Diversity (This activity comes with optional free Endangered Species Condoms!).
- Learn about plumage and the mating habits of several species of birds through feathers and taxidermy housed in our own collection.
- Learn about the different shapes and sizes of animal sperm within the animal kingdom and play “Whose Sperm is it Anyway!?”–a fun matching game.
- Join in our Call of the Wild game! Learn about some of the wild ways that different animal species mate and reproduce. Structured in the style of a classic speed dating game, you’ll be assigned an animal, learn something spicy about it, and then be prompted to share that with other players with lightning rounds and musical chairs.
- Participate in curated trivia sessions in our Bausch Auditorium, led by Shaun Dulen.
- Dissect flowers to learn more about how they reproduce and discover similarities to animal reproduction.
- Learn about sexual health and wellness by participating in discussions with local researchers and organizations.
- Experience live animal encounters with creatures from our Survival of the Slowest Exhibit.
