Science on the Edge: Antibiotics Resistance: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
*The event has already taken place on this date: Thu, 03/10/2022
Approximately 2.8 million people are infected with bacteria that are deemed resistant to clinically relevant antibiotics worldwide, which accounts for 35,000 and 700,000 deaths in the United States respectively. In the 2019 report, The World Health Organization states that if no action is taken, drug resistant diseases could cause 10 million deaths each year by 2050 and that by 2030, antimicrobial resistance could force up to 24 million people into extreme poverty.
There is an urgent need for the development of novel antibiotics to combat the drastic rise in the number of antibiotic resistant bacteria. This presentation aims to shed light on this problem.-
