Sleepy Sheep Felting Workshop Date: Monday, January 20, 2025 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day) Time: 12 PM - 2 PM Location: Rochester Folk Art Guild, East Hill Farm, Middlesex, NY Cost: $25.00 Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day by spending your day off from school in a creative and meaningful way at our Sleepy Sheep Felting Workshop led by the talented Lisa DeFrancesco! This engaging 2-hour session is perfect for beginners and seasoned crafters alike. You’ll learn to create your very own charming sheep, ideal for hanging as an ornament or displaying on a shelf. What You’ll Learn: Needle Felting Techniques: Master the fundamentals of shaping wool roving into a delightful sheep. Safe Use of Felting Needles: Understand how to handle felting needles safely while crafting your creation. Finishing Touches: Learn to enhance your project with jumprings and ribbon for a polished look. Materials Provided: Each participant will receive a comprehensive felting kit, which includes: Wool roving Felting needles Felting pad Jumprings and string/ribbon Age Requirements: This workshop is open to ages 8 and up. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult, as we’ll be working with sharp needles. No Experience Necessary: Whether you’re a novice or have some crafting experience, this class is designed for all skill levels. Needle felting is a fun and relaxing craft, but please be mindful of the sharp needles as you work. Pricing: The class fee of $25 covers all materials needed for the workshop and supports the instructor’s fees as well as administrative costs like marketing and registration coordination. About the Instructor: Lisa DeFrancesco, a native of Geneva, NY, brings a rich background of creativity and experience to her workshops. With a history of teaching science in NYC public schools and running her own small business for 20 years, she returned to Geneva to pursue her artistic passions. Inspired by nature, Lisa integrates elements like birds and natural history into her work. In addition to felting, she teaches rug hooking, weaving, and printmaking, and also leads kayak and nature tours along the Cayuga-Seneca Canal. Lisa is an active board member of the Dove Block Project in Geneva, NY.
