Spotlight on Faculty – Baroque Strings
*The event has already taken place on this date: Fri, 05/03/2019
The program includes two works by Vivaldi – his Concerto in D Major, written for lute but performed here on guitar, and his Double Concerto in G Major (normally performed on two mandolins, but performed here on guitars). Turlough O'Carolan was a blind Celtic harper, composer, and singer and is considered by many to be Ireland's national composer. His Concerto – here for cello and guitar – is probably his most famous composition and was inspired by the music of Corelli. The program also includes O’Carolan’s Farewell to Music, Corbetta’s Suite in C Major, and Couperin’s Pieces en Concert.
