Looking for a fun way to get some exercise with the whole family? Then join us to learn art of capoeira! This two-part event will explore the history of capoeira, a 600+ year-old Afro-Brazilian art that blurs the line between martial art and dance. It began as an illegal martial art and grew in popularity to become Brazil’s national sport. Capoeira is now for everyone! We will meet outside at the amphitheater in Veteran's Memorial Park. Be ready to move and try out Capoeira for yourself!
Registering for this first event, automatically registers you for the second event on Monday 7/24 from 6:30-8pm. Be sure you can make it to both events!
About the Presenter: Chris Thompson (he/his/him) is an engineer, writer, humorist, and activist who made Rochester, New York his home in 2008. He is a regular contributing writer for 540Blog and a food writer for Rochester City Newspaper, He often uses humor to educate about current events and history on his own on Instagram and Twitter at @ChronsOfNon. Additionally, Chris is co-host to the local food video podcast Refined Taste with Dario and Chris.
