Blacksmithing Sampler: Kiridashi

Interested in Blacksmithing or looking to refine your skills? Rochester Arc + Flame Center’s Samplers are an excellent way to get a taste of forging. These classes are designed as teasers to let you experience what it's like to work with hot steel. Focus will be on the fundamentals of hammer control to get the steel to respond the way you want it to. Each sampler focuses on a specific project that students get to take with them at the end of class.

Project: Kiridashi -a small, versatile, traditional Japanese knife with a sinfle beveled blade. The name translates to "to carve out" or "to cut out" in Japanese, and the knife is known for its precision and artistry. Kiridashi knives are often used for woodworking, whittling, and other tasks.
Our experienced instructors will use a combination of lecture, demonstration, and hands-on instruction at the forge to enhance your learning experience.
All safety equipment and smithing materials are included in the course price. Great for beginners and experienced tradesmen!
