CLIMATE ACTION DAYS ACTIVITIES
RAIN BARREL WORKSHOP
Saturday, May 21 | 10am
Learn how you can utilize green infrastructure at your home! Join us to create your own rain barrel and take it home — we supply everything but the rain.
Water usage increases by approximately 30 percent in the summer months due to watering gardens, filling pools, and more. Rain barrels are a great way to challenge that percentage and maintain a cost-effective process by collecting and repurposing rainwater for your lawn and garden; saving our resources AND money!
Cost: $45 per barrel
ROBOT BEACH CLEAN-UP INVENTOR CENTER CHALLENGE
This weekend only, we're offering a unique, climate-themed engineering challenge in the Inventor Center. Your family will use programming and engineering to help save the planet by building a robot that can pick up trash! Build your robot, test it's capabilities on your favorite beach, and see how it measures up to our challenge.
ENGAGE WITH EN-ROADS EXPERTS
Get hands-on while learning about climate with this high-tech tool that shows us the steps we can take to reduce our impact on climate change. Local climate change activists will set your mind in motion to think about the different factors that affect global warming and brainstorm how we can all work together to solve the world’s toughest problem
WEEKEND FAMILY LAB: ELECTRICITY EXPLORATIONS
Saturday, May 21 | 10:30am, 11:30am, and 1pm
Join us in one of our brand-new, renovated labs for a hands-on, family-friendly experiment focused on electricity! During the lab, you and your child will discover how a circuit works and create one to test out your newly acquired knowledge. We'll also discuss how electricity travels, and alternative energy sources we can use to reduce our own energy consumption! ways about how we can reduce our energy consumption; like solar power!
These labs are designed for a caregiver and child to complete together. Participants must be prompt, as late entry will hinder your ability to complete experiments and may not be permitted.
Each lab has a limited number of spaces and families will need to get tickets from the Museum & Science Center front desk to participate. Tickets are required, but the lab is included in the cost of admission and particiption does not require additional fees.
OUTSIDE PRESENTERS
