AUGUST 26 | PRESSED FLOWER FAIRIES
Pressing flowers is a wonderful way to preserve the memories of summer. Plus you can make pretty things with preserved blossoms! Try your hand at making a pressed flower fairy (or other design). We will each make a small, simple flower press to take home.
SEPTEMBER 2 | BUGS IN AUTUMN: AN INSECTS LAST HURRAH!
Come and explore the world of bugs in autumn: the amazing season finale of the insect world! From katydids to monarch butterflies, from migrating dragonflies to infestations of ladybugs, you’ll gain a new appreciation for these intricate and ubiquitous creatures.
This is a great program for families.
SEPTEMBER 9 | MEADOW FLOWERS OF AUTUMN
Discover the dried bouquets and potpourris of autumn meadows as we learn about their gifts, their folklore, their evolution, and more. Come to learn and to be inspired! Participants will each take a small bouquet of flowers home.
This program is for all ages.
SEPTEMBER 16 | BEAVER BUILDERS
Beavers build to prepare an area for their home and the long winter. Learn about the beaver’s amazing adaptations while visiting nearby beaver sites and maybe even building a dam of your own!
This program is a great fit for families. Rubber boots suggested.
SEPTEMBER 23 | AUTUMN EQUINOX WALK
The autumn equinox marks the transition between the lightest and darkest seasons of the year. Honor the first day of autumn with a slow-paced discovery hike focused on how life in the forest is preparing for winter during this season of change.
This program is designed for adults.
SEPTEMBER 30 | MAKE A LEAF CROWN & AUTUMN MANDALA
Celebrate Autumn with us as we gather fallen leaves, nuts, and cones to create whimsical crowns and garlands to take home. We will also make beautiful temporary mandalas and other designs, adorning the forest floor for other visitors to enjoy.
This program is designed for all ages.
OCTOBER 14 | AUTUMN RAMBLE FOR SENIORS
This gentle hike will be brimming with autumn wonder. Come explore the changing season with our expert naturalist, Shariee Edersheim. This hike is especially for our adult and older adult visitors.
OCTOBER 21 | AUTUMN FAIRY HOUSES
There’s magic in the woods this time of year! Join us to make a little home for fairies or small critters and discover the enchantment for yourself.
This program is designed for families, although anyone is welcome to join!
OCTOBER 28 | A NATURAL HISTORY OF BATS & SPIDERS
‘Unhuggable’ creatures like bats and spiders are fascinating! So why do they fill so many with fear? Come explore the lore—and the real lives—of bats and spiders during this spooky Halloween-time program.
