The Penfield Trails Committee will sponsor a free guided hike at Channing H. Philbrick Park on Saturday, April 9, 10:00 am – 12:00 pm.
Come learn about and celebrate Daniel Penfield’s selection of “The Hollow” as the best mill site in all 97,000 square miles of the Genesee lands in 1795, and see remains of some of Penfield’s first mills.
Sturdy waterproof footwear is recommended as parts of the trail may be slippery. The hike is expected to last about two hours and will be led by members of the Penfield Trails Committee.
The park, formerly known as Linear Park, is located off Rt. 441, west of the Penfield Four Corners area. Meet at the kiosk on the north side of the bridge. Follow the “Hike” signs.
While the hike is free, participants are asked to pre-register by calling Penfield Recreation at 340-8655, option 6.
Penfield Trails Committee is always seeking volunteers to serve on its planning committee, as well as to do manual labor for trails maintenance. For more information, please call Penfield Recreation at (585) 340-8655.
