Homeschool Program Winter 1

We’re not your typical classroom! Camp Arrowhead offers 55 acres of fields, creeks, and wooded areas for your homeschooler to explore. Each Wednesday, students will learn though hands-on activities that focus on a variety of topics.

We’re not your typical classroom! Camp Arrowhead offers 55 acres of fields, creeks, and wooded areas for your homeschooler to explore. Each Wednesday, students will learn though hands-on activities that focus on environmental, cultural, historical, and scientific topics.

Children, ages 5-15, will be broken up by age groups wherever possible. The program will run from9:30 am to 1:30 pm each Wednesday.  We highly recommend registering ahead for supply and staffing purposes.

 Please be sure to let us know of any dietary restrictions and/or allergies, as we may be making time-period snacks during the day or using food in activities.  Your homeschooler should be prepared for each class with weather-appropriate attire, a lunch, water, and sneakers.  There will need to be a minimum of 6 children to run any week’s programming.

 

 

YMCA Family Members- $35 per class; $28 per class when you register for all 6 classes

Program Members- $45 per class ; $38 per class when you register for all 6 classes.

 

Bring a friend! Bring someone new to the class and your friend will receive $10 off the first class while you receive $5 off one class or $10 off the session.

One friend per child per session .
 Sibling Discount: Receive $15 off each additional child when you register for the entire session

Jauary 6th: Conflist Resolutions-- During this class we will learn about different point of views and how to work through differences. Students will learn about compromising, negotiating, and mediation through a variety of cooperative activities. 


January 13th
: Print Making-- Students will learn about block printing and other forms of print art that dates back over 4,000 years ago. We will creating a variety of different printing blocks that students can bring home with them. Students are sure to leave with some creative and original designs! 

 

January 20th: Minion Math-- The class will be dedicated to our little yellow friends— Minions! Throughout the class we will be doing a variety of math activities that use minions to assist in counting and placing of numbers. 

 

January 27th: Mouthy-- We’ll be getting mouthy in a whole new way. During this class we will experiment with teeth! For younger students we will learn how many, and what kind, of teeth are in our mouths. Older students will focus on what can decay and break down our teeth through experiments. 

 

Febraury 3rd: DIY-- This class will be full of hands-on crafting/creations. We will be learning about sewing as we make our own pillows and book marks. Students will also have the opportunity to create their own jewelry and accessories. 

 

February 10th: The Heart-- Students will be learning the parts and functions of the heart. The day will be full of diagrams and experiments that replicate how the human heart works. The day will touch on blood types and the importance of oxygen in our blood.

 

Holiday Breaks: There will be no class the week of February 15-19th due to Winter Camp at YMCA Camp Arrowhead. Classes will resume the following week of the 22nd with the Winter II session.
