Heritage Maker Workshop Series
Heritage Making is about building both community and beautiful things. Explore new skills from bird carving to blacksmithing in this series of workshops at the Cumming Nature Center.
At the core, this program aims to create a supportive space for talented teachers and craftspeople to share traditional knowledge through fellowship and intensive instruction. Classes are relaxed, informative, and recognize the value in handmade arts and crafts.

Pack Basket Making Workshop
October 2 & 3 (this is a two-day workshop)
9:30am - 4:00pm
$165 per person
The traditional Adirondack Pack Basket is as functional as it is treasured. With expert guidance from our experienced basket maker you can weave your own medium-large pack basket that is certain to become an heirloom. Participants will use both flat and flat oval reed to create a 22” high pack basket. A leather harness strap will complete the basket. All materials and necessary tools are included in the cost of the program. Students will need to bring their own lunches, water, and snacks each day.
Most students will not finish in two days but will need to stain their basket at home. Staining will be demonstrated during class.
Previous basket making experience is helpful, but not necessary! This workshop is for ages 14 and up.
