SUNDAY, MAY 15 | 5:30PM & 7:30PM
STAR THEATER, RMSC STRASENBURGH PLANETARIUM
After their sold-out performances in November 2021, Vanishing Sun returns to the Planetarium on May 15 to perform as an opening act for a lunar eclipse!
Science and the arts collide in this unique and musical planetarium experience. Impressions of the Infinite combines the Planetarium's immersive visualization capabilities with original music performed live by the Rochester-based jazz-funk-electronic ensemble Vanishing Sun to create a unique journey for the eyes, ears, heart, and mind.
The hour-long multimedia creation includes vague premonitions, grand vistas of cosmic insight, and brilliant and relentless plunges through high-energy space remniscent of the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey. The music brings distant curious noises, pretty piano solos, thundering bass lines, and complex layered rhythms. Conceived as a project to mark the Strasenburgh Planetarium's fiftieth-anniversary renovation, Impressions of the Infinite will be a highlight in the Planetarium's history of artistic collaborations.
