April Break at Ganondagan

As a long-awaited spring finally emerges, Ganondagan State Historic Site celebrates Mother Earth with four days of public, family-friendly programs from Tuesday, April 16 through Friday, April 19, free with museum admission, and free for Friends of Ganondagan members.
The following activities will be offered depending on the day. Participants will:
- learn about historical bark containers then make their own using paint, yarn, and foam sheets (ages 5 and up)
- make a “seed bomb” full of sunflower seeds to grow this summer (ages 5 and up)
- learn about the “Three Sisters” then make their own seed starter kit of corns, beans, and squash. Meet at the Seneca Art & Culture Center lobby (ages 5 and up)
- experience “Springtime in Seneca Country,” a 1.5 hr. walk around Trail of Peace highlighting traditional springtime activities of the Seneca people of Ganondagan in the 17th-century
Daily events are as follows:
Tuesday, April 16
10-11 am: Bark containers
11-11:45 am, OR 3-3:45 pm: Trail of Peace guided walk
2-3:30 pm: “Springtime in Seneca Country” trail walk (rain or shine)
Wednesday, April 17
10-11 am OR 2-3 pm: Sunflower seed bombs
11-11:45 am OR 3-3:45: Trail of Peace guided walk
Thursday, April 18
10-11 am, OR 2-3 pm: Three Sisters Garden
11-11:45 am, OR 3-3:45 pm: Trail of Peace guided walk
Friday, April 19
10-11:30 am: “Springtime in Seneca Country” trail walk
11-11:45 pm, OR 3-3:45 pm: Trail of Peace guided walk
2-3 pm: Bark containers
Participants are welcome to peruse the Seneca Art & Culture Center exhibits until 4:30 pm.
