With fond memories of participating in Volksmarsches in Germany, the owners of Shortsville Reindeer Farm hope to continue this fun tradition at the farm!
German Volksmarches are traditionally organized, non-competitive walks through fields and forests, typically 5 km long (about 3 miles). Often a fundraiser for charity, the Volksmarsch concludes with a picnic-type atmosphere with drinks and grilled German meats.
This Volksmarsch is a fundraiser for the Red Jacket Community Library.
The walk begins at 10am at the barn. We will stroll around the outside of the reindeer pasture, and then through fields and forests, and back to barn.
The Krazy Firemen band will provide live German oom-pah music from 11am to 2pm.
LOCALLY SOURCED grilled bratwurst with mustard and brotchen, beer from our local brewery, and water will be available for purchase. One free bratwurst is included in the price of admission.
Though the reindeer will be visible, guests will not have the ability to interact with the reindeer at this event.
For your $20 registration fee you receive:
-The opportunity to stroll 5km through forests and fields
-One free bratwurst with local mustard at the end of the walk
-Opportunity to purchase additional bratwurst, beer, and water
-3 hours of entertainment by the band the Krazy Firemen
The walking route is NOT handicap or stroller acessible. The picnic area at the barn is.
This event is LGBTQ+ friendly.
