Wampum Educators' Day Monday, July 31st | 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM This day-long program is ideal for elementary, middle and high school teachers, and those who wish to gain an authentic understanding of Haudenosaunee (Native American) history and culture and comprehend U.S. history from the perspective of the original people of NYS. Educators will learn directly from Haudenosaunee knowledge keepers/educators - presentations, open dialogue, hands-on activities, interpretive tours, and sessions.

Wampum Educators' Day

Monday, July 31st | 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM 

This day-long program is ideal for elementary, middle and high school teachers, and those who wish to gain an authentic understanding of Haudenosaunee (Native American) history and culture and comprehend U.S. history from the perspective of the original people of NYS.

Teachers will actively engage in authentic teaching and learning experiences that can be brought into their classrooms, through shared lesson plans and activities, serving to enrich New York State–mandated curriculum. Throughout the day educators will gain a deeper and more integrated understanding of Haudenosaunee history, culture and contemporary life.

Educators will learn directly from Haudenosaunee knowledge keepers, educators and interpreters through a variety of teaching modalities including, presentations, open dialogue, hands-on activities, interpretive tours, and break-out sessions.

Special Instructions –

  • Since a portion of this program will be outdoors, please wear comfortable clothing, walking shoes, and dress for the weather
  • Please plan on bringing your lunch
    • Refrigeration will be available
    • Coffee and beverages will be provided
